Process Safety Studies
PSM & Dispersion Study

Purpose of the assessment or study

To prevent major accident hazards (MAH), evaluate the integrity of critical process barriers, assess emergency pressure relief adequacy, and strengthen process safety management (PSM) systems.

Applicable facility types

Chemical synthesis plants, pharmaceutical bulk drug units, polymer plants, fertilizer complexes, and petrochemical storage installations.

Proposed study scope

Process safety information review, chemical reactivity hazards, runaway reaction potential, pressure relief valve (PRV) sizing reviews, flare system capabilities, and secondary containment structures.

Scope is structured as a technical proposal framework for client review and adjusted to your facility layout.

Methodology overview

Review of thermochemical data, reaction runaway potential, examination of safety instrumented systems (SIS) and safety integrity levels (SIL) concepts, review of overpressure relief scenarios, and management of change (MOC) procedures.

Client inputs and site visit arrangements

Information required from client

Process flow diagrams, equipment mechanical data, reaction kinetics and thermal data, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), relief valve design calculations, and P&IDs.

Site visit arrangements

Engineering walkthrough of reactor bays, distillation columns, tank farms, and safety control room interfaces.

Indicative deliverables

Comprehensive Process Safety Study report, critical safeguard assessment register, relief scenario review summary, and prioritized process safety recommendations, subject to agreed scope.

Frequently asked questions

Can this study be combined with a HAZOP workshop?
